Location:

The Howard Park community boundaries are Powder Mill, Liberty Heights, Rogers Avenue, Post Road, Oakfield, Kathland, and Forest Park Golf Course, to Beethoven, Powder Mill.  The zip code for Howard Park is 21207.

 

Types of Houses:

Howard Park has a large variety of homes which range from large single family homes (3-8 bedrooms) with 2 car detached garages on an average of 7,000 sq. feet of land, to cape cods with some two story townhouses.  74% of the homes in Howard Park are owner occupied.

 

Education:

Calvin Rodwell Elementary School located at the intersection of Liberty Heights and Hillsdale Avenue.  

There are two middle schools and three high schools that are within a 5-10 minute commute.

Middle Schools – Douglas, Walbrook Academy and Forest park.  We are also in the midst of higher learning with

Baltimore City Community college – Liberty Campus to the east and Coppin State University to the south.  Johns Hopkins University, University of Maryland, College of Notre Dame and Loyola are within a 20 minute driving commute and are accessible by public transportation.

 

Traveling and Public Transportation Information:

Howard Park is an easy commute as it is a mere 15 minutes from downtown.  Howard Park is a five minute drive to major highways such as 29, 70, 83, 695 and 95.  Howard Park is serviced by 3 buses, the M1, M6 and #44 which provide an easy connection to the subway and light rail systems including Rogers Avenue, Coldspring and Mondawmin Metro station.

 

Shopping:

Mondawmin Mall is a five minute drive and Howard Park’s ideal location gives one an easy access to Westview Mall, Security Square Mall, Harborplace, Towson Towne Center, Owings Mills, Columbia, and Arundel Mills Malls.

 

Parks & Recreation Sites:

Forest Park Golf Course is in the heart of Howard Park.  There is also Gwynn Oak Park, Druid Hill and Leakin Park; Powder Mill Stream, Dickey Hill, the Gwynn Falls Watershed Trails.

 

Medical Facilities:

Medical services are available within 15 minutes at Sinai, University of Maryland, Johns Hopkins Hospitals as well as Garwyn Oaks, Bon Secours, and Kernan Medical Centers.

The Garwyn Oaks Northwest Housing Resource Center offers residents and potential homeowners’ homebuyers’ education and counseling, assistance and referrals with housing related issues, and access to financial funding to purchase, refinance or renovate a home.  The Center administers the Healthy Neighborhoods loan programs for those residing or looking to live in Howard Park, a Healthy Neighborhood community.
