Community Partnerships

To ensure a continuance of desirable quality of life in Northwest Baltimore, The Garwyn Oaks Northwest Housing Resource Center has initiated community activities and public and private partnerships with the Garwyn Oaks, Hanlon, and Howard Park communities.

 

Garwyn Oaks, Hanlon and Howard Park

The Garwyn Oaks, Hanlon & Howard Park communities are beautifully tucked away in the upper northwest side of Baltimore City.

Bountiful trees, wide streets and flower gardens characterize the residential streets of these communities.

 

The beauty of the area, its proximity to downtown Baltimore, its closeness to area shopping malls (Mondawmin, Reisterstown Rd. Plaza, Security, Westview and Owings Mills), access to public schools and public transportation, minutes away from Forest Park Golf Course and the Gwynns Falls Nature trails, plush lawns, and the serenity and open space of Hanlon Park make the communities of Garwyn Oaks, Hanlon and Howard Park a true find.

 

The Garwyn Oaks, Hanlon and Howard Park residents are diverse in age, occupation and income.

They are communities of working families, retired residents, first-time homeowners and long-term residents.

 

Many homeowners have lived in these communities for more than 30 to 45 years, not to mention that many residents who once grew up in Garwyn Oaks, Hanlon and Howard Park have now come back to raise their families. It’s easy to travel within or out of Garwyn Oaks, Hanlon and Howard Park, thanks to the many bus and metro lines that run near or through the neighborhoods: Bus,  Lines #M1, #91, #15, Metro Stations, Mondawmin, Coldspring, and Rogers Ave; Train, Penn Station, Marc Train/Franklin Station.

 

The neighborhoods are also conveniently located near several important Roadways: I-95, I-70, I-83, Route 40, I-695.

The Garwyn Oaks Community is bounded by Woodhaven Avenue on the north, Gwynns Falls Parkway to the south, Garrison Blvd. on east and Chelsea Terrace to the west.  We are in the 21216 zip code.

 

Types of Houses:

The area is characterized by medium to large detached two and three story wood frame homes in the colonial, traditional, Victorian, and cottage styles, dating back to 100 years. There are also some two-story brick town houses. The houses have front and rear porches,

ample front and rear yards, shrubbery, trees, and flower gardens, with off street parking for most homes.

Harborplace, Towson Towne Center, Owings Mills & Columbia Malls are all in a 30 minutes drive.
