Garwyn Oaks Northwest Housing Resource Center is proud to announce that it has been awarded a $15,000 Performance Grant from Truist Mortgage to support and implement its Homeownership Services Program.

“We are pleased to receive this grant from Truist. To us, it is not just a financial contribution–but even more, a recognition from a well- respected financial institution that the work we are doing is making a real difference in our Baltimore communities. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Truist as we grow and expand our services in Baltimore,” stated Mereida Goodman, Executive Director of GO Northwest. “We project to provide homeownership services to about 400 persons,” she notes proudly.”The Truist grant will expand our capacity to promote our services to our communities.”

GO Northwest provides homebuyers with education, counseling, and access to homeownership resources and opportunities to equip them to be mortgage-ready and purchase a home affordably and succeed.  Our clientele is predominantly low-to-moderate income and minority households. By utilizing our services, homebuyers are able to stabilize, strengthen and manage their finances, build money management skills, and learn what is required in buying a home to help them achieve their homeownership goals. Our Homeownership Services program covers the elements essential for preparing to purchase a home: credit, budgeting, savings, affordability; the mortgage application process: what to expect in applying for a mortgage; and the real estate process: working with real estate agents, contract and settlement. We cover critical insurance information, being a homeowner in neighborhoods, and incentives to make the purchase attainable.
